Ekal Vidhyalaya Drive

Ekal Vidyalaya is an organization and movement aims to help eradicate illiteracy from rural and tribal India by 2015.
This movement initiates, supports, and runs one-teacher schools (popularly known as Ekal Vidyalayas) all over the country. The Schools are in the tribal or remote areas of India where government facilities are not reached upto villegers.
part from its goal of achieving the national standards of Minimum Level of Learning, Ekal Vidyalaya seeks to empower the village community for its own self-development through four aspects: functional literacy, health care education, development education, and empowerment education.
With participation of numerous non-profit trusts and organizations, this program has now become the greatest education movement in the country more than 50 thousand Ekal Schools across India. More information about ekal vidyalya can seen here. (www.ekal.org )
HSS Norway have started a drive to sponsor a schools in India via ekal vidyalaya since last few years.

The drive for the renewal of existing sponsorship and for sponsorship for new school is taken by HSS norway each year by month of march.
